How to Plan Your Trip — Arrival, Tour, and Return to Malaysia

Because the AirAsia flight from Kuala Lumpur arrives at approximately 14:25, you will reach Labuan Bajo in the afternoon. Our shared trip boats depart from the harbour by 11:00 AM at the latest (sometimes up to 12:00 noon due to queuing at the main port). This means you will need to spend one night in Labuan Bajo before joining the trip the following morning.

Your full trip flow from Malaysia:

  1. Day 0 — Arrival Day. Fly from Kuala Lumpur, arrive Labuan Bajo at approximately 14:25. Check in to your hotel, explore the waterfront, enjoy dinner along the harbour. Rest before the trip.
  2. Day 1. Check out of hotel in the morning, head to the harbour. Board the Phinisi boat and depart by 11:00–12:00. Your Komodo Shared Trip 3 Days 2 Nights adventure begins.
  3. Day 2. Full day at sea: Padar Island, Pink Beach, Komodo Island (dragons), snorkelling stops.
  4. Day 3 — Last day of tour. Manta Point in the morning. The boat returns to Labuan Bajo harbour between 11:00 AM and 12:30 PM.

Returning to Malaysia on Day 3 — Two Scenarios:

✅ Scenario A — Fly home the same day (recommended if possible)
If the boat docks by 11:00–11:30 AM and your AirAsia return flight departs in the afternoon, you can head straight to the airport and fly home to Kuala Lumpur the same day. The airport is approximately 15–20 minutes from the harbour. Allow at least 2 hours before your flight for check-in and immigration.

🏨 Scenario B — Stay one more night in Labuan Bajo
If the boat arrives closer to 12:30 PM, or if the return flight timing does not allow same-day travel, you will need one additional night in Labuan Bajo. This is also a good option if you want to explore the town, enjoy a final waterfront dinner, or simply relax before flying home.

Important: The return flight schedule from Labuan Bajo (LBJ) to Kuala Lumpur (KUL) is expected to be updated once daily flights begin on 10 July 2026. Always check the latest departure times on airasia.com before booking your return flight. We also recommend confirming your exact boat arrival time with us before finalising your travel home.

Shared Trip Departure Schedule — Which Day to Fly In

Additional departures (subject to boat availability):

Since AirAsia now flies daily from Kuala Lumpur, you have full flexibility to time your arrival to match any of these departures. Contact us on WhatsApp to check availability for your preferred dates before booking your flights.

What is a Komodo Shared Trip (Open Trip Liveaboard)?

A Komodo shared trip — also known as an open trip or group liveaboard — means you book a cabin per person on a scheduled departure. You share the Phinisi boat with other international travelers, which makes it the most cost-effective way to experience Komodo National Park without giving up comfort or quality.

What is included:

  • Private cabin with bed and bedding on board the Phinisi
  • All meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) and drinking water
  • Snorkelling equipment
  • English-speaking guide on board
  • Komodo National Park entrance and conservation fee (SIMAKSI)
  • Destinations: Padar Island viewpoint hike, Pink Beach snorkelling, Komodo Island dragon trek, Manta Point, and more

Not included:

  • International and domestic flights
  • Hotel accommodation in Labuan Bajo (night before and after the trip)
  • Airport transfers
  • Travel insurance and personal expenses

Pricing — Komodo Shared Trip per Person

All prices are per person for the 3 Days 2 Nights shared trip. We offer three boat classes, all traditional Phinisi wooden vessels with private cabins, en-suite or shared bathrooms, and full dining service.

  • Deluxe Class — from IDR 2,900,000 / person (approx. RM 840)
  • VIP Class — from IDR 4,250,000 / person (approx. RM 1,230)
  • Luxury Class — from IDR 6,500,000 / person (approx. RM 1,880)

Prices may vary by departure date and cabin type. Contact us on WhatsApp for exact pricing and to check availability for your travel dates. We can also provide pricing in USD if preferred.

Prefer a Private Charter? We Have That Too

Some travelers from Malaysia prefer to charter an entire Phinisi boat exclusively for their group — whether it is a family trip, a honeymoon, a group of friends, or a corporate retreat. With a private charter, the boat is yours alone: you set the pace, choose your preferred spots, and enjoy a fully exclusive experience on the water.

A private charter is also a practical option if your group arrives in Labuan Bajo later in the afternoon and prefers to depart on the same day — rather than waiting for the next shared trip departure. Private trips can depart up to 1:00 PM from the harbour.

For full details on boats, pricing, and availability, visit our Exclusive Komodo Private Trip page — or contact us directly via WhatsApp.

Komodo National Park Visitor Quota — What You Need to Know

Since April 2026, Komodo National Park limits daily visitors to 1,000 people per day. This applies to all areas and activities within the park — including Padar Island, Komodo Island, Pink Beach, diving, and snorkelling. Entry is managed through a timed-slot pre-booking system.

When you book through Komodo Dreamland Tour, we handle all park entry reservations on your behalf before your departure date. You do not need to manage the system yourself — everything is arranged and confirmed in advance.
